Being an entrepreneur ain't easy. It's never easy. Even if some founders, employees, or investors look poised on the outside, there is probably something brewing inside that is keeping them up at night. In order to be successful, you need to get lucky - but you also need an incredible support network. Here at Finnbin, we are fortunate to have arguably the best support network possible including our business associates, friends, and family. This post is dedicated to those often unsung MVPs of Finnbin.
Finnbin baby boxes are now available for you to purchase online. If you want one, it will probably take you less than 5 minutes to navigate around finnbin.com, make a decision on which product might be of interest to you, and enter your shipping and payment information. Miraculously, a few days later, your Finnbin should arrive at your doorstep.
To get to this point, it has taken nearly 4 months of hard work and incredible support and understanding from our business partners, suppliers, friends and family. To illustrate this, I want to highlight a few behind-the-scenes folks that have gone above and beyond to help us bring you the opportunity to receive your very own Finnbin.
Business Associates: Not all business associates are involved in our industry. In fact, each and every day, I set foot in the offices of SkullCandy - a company that makes the sickest headphones, earbuds, gaming headsets, and speakers - located in Park City, UT. I moved to town after starting Finnbin and needed to find a home for Finnbin. SkullCandy and their employees could not have been more accommodating. Not only do they let me sublet a small office space from them, but their employees have been incredibly helpful and are some of the nicest folks around. They make me feel welcome each day despite the fact that I'm the weird new guy in the office who probably looks to be running an underground Ebay business out of their office space. Still they smile and say hello and go out of their way to accommodate me. I'm incredibly lucky to have found such a great work environment for Finnbin to call home.
Friends: As I previously mentioned, I just moved to Park City, UT. One of the hardest things about moving to a new city is finding like-minded people who you can create memories with and share experiences with. As it turns out, Finnbin was directly responsible for my wife and I meeting some incredible people who also doubled as our Finnbin models that you see on the site. That's right! Those are not hired actors or models - those are our real life friends and our friend's children in the pictures and videos you see throughout our site.
Here is how this came to be. One of our awesome brand partners is Chewbeads. I've had the pleasure of working with Elana to coordinate a partnership between Chewbeads and Finnbin. While at the ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas, I finally had the chance to meet Elana in person. Coincidentally, she had just visited her friends in Park City, UT and had mentioned this to me in passing - not knowing I had just moved to town. One thing led to another and she set up a couples + kids date for her friends and my family. It was love at first site and we instantly had a circle of amazing friends. No longer than 6 weeks later, these incredible friends came over for a morning photoshoot. These videos and images help us show you what life with a Finnbin will look like. Not to mention, they also put up with me constantly asking them "what if..." Finnbin questions to help me deliver you the best product possible.
We also owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to all of our extended friends in our networks who have liked, shared, and/or commented on our online posts when no one else knows or cares about Finnbin. That support is incredibly helpful and helps us to validate our ideas and keeps us going through the difficult times during our journey.
Family: There is no one who sacrifices more during a startup than the families of the founders. They are there to give us input when we ask for it, support us when times are tough, let us work long hours when needed - and they do it with a smile on their face and never complain. Catherine and I are lucky to have you guys in our lives and to be so supportive of our efforts. I'm looking at you: Ian, Teddy, Archie, Jaime, and Halle. Fun Fact: Ian (Catherine's husband) is the man behind the camera for all of the imagery you see on finnbin.com and many of our social media posts.
Although Catherine and I are the people you may see on our website or might read about in the articles, we owe it all to the unsung heroes of Finnbin who may not get the recognition they deserve. So, to all of our business associates, friends, and family members. Thank you! Thank you for being so incredibly supportive in every imaginable way.
This is just a small glimpse into some of the people who have helped us create Finnbin. It literally took villages! We hope that when you put your baby down to sleep in a Finnbin, you can feel the love and support from the entire extended Finnbin family.
From our growing family to your growing family, here is one of our favorite quotes from German aviator, Dieter Uchtdorf: "Sometimes we become so focused on the finish line, that we fail to find joy in the journey." Be sure to enjoy the journey of parenting. Before you know it, your little one will outgrow their Finnbin.
